The Faculty of Science & Engineering at Manchester Metropolitan University approached us to devise a concept to engage undergraduate students and drive awareness of their postgraduate degrees. The faculty had organised a week-long series of events ‘Progress to Postgrad’, designed to give students a taste of Masters-level study across a wide range of subjects. Valentine's Day was coming up in the run-up to the event and was seen as a great opportunity for the faculty to communicate their message.
We were tasked with conceptualising, illustrating and producing a series of Valentine’s cards themed around subject areas within the Science & Engineering faculty. The cards were a unique, quirky way to attract students and enabled the University to start a discussion about the students’ next steps after graduation. The cards were so well received that the faculty reused the design for a second successive year as well as being shortlisted in the ‘Best Low Budget Initiative’ category, at the 2018 Heist Awards.
